Un lungo viaggio e un grande atto d’amore !!
Questo è il senso di “Translunaggio…nove tributi al rock progressivo”, un percorso cronologico che inizia dagli albori del proto-prog dei Procol Harum (1967) e si conclude con i Flower Kings (2007), odierni paladini di un progressive rock ancora attuale e vincente. 40 anni tra i quali trovano posto espressioni diverse, ricche di sfaccettature, eppure unite da un comune denominatore estetico che i livornesi AURORA LUNARE hanno sapute reinterpretare con pregevole qualità e rispetto dei brani originali, soprattutto degli artisti che Mauro Pini e band amano da sempre.
Dalla filmica “Gamma” di Enrico Simonetti, per procedere con Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Area, Goblin che hanno fatto la storia del prog italiano, allargandosi a Yes e Marillion, capostipiti del prog inglese in periodi diversi.
La rivisitazione di “A whiter shade of pale”, con ospiti Alessandro Corvaglia alla voce e Gianluca Milanese al flauto è già un biglietto da visita di tutto rilievo. Ma ogni brano sa evidenziare freschezza e vitalità, con la vecchia guardia degli Aurora Lunare (Mauro Pini: tastiere e voce, Luciano Tonetti: basso, Marco Santinelli: batteria, lo strardinario Stefano Onorati: pianoforte, tastiere, chitarra classica) in grande spolvero.

A long journey and a great act of love !!
This is the sense of “Translunaggio … nove tributi al rock progressivo”, a chronological path that starts from the dawn of proto-prog of Procol Harum (1967) and ends with Flower Kings (2007), today’s champions of a progressive rock still current and winning. 40 years among which there are different expressions, full of facets, yet united by a common aesthetic denominator that the Tuscan AURORA LUNARE have been able to reinterpret with quality and respect of the original songs, especially the artists that Mauro Pini and band have always loved.
From the film “Gamma” by Enrico Simonetti, to proceed with Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, Area, Goblin that have made the history of the Italian prog, expanding to Yes and Marillion, from the greatest of the English prog in different periods.
The revisitation of “A whiter shade of pale”, with special guests Alessandro Corvaglia on vocals and Gianluca Milanese on flute is already a very important visiting card. But each song shows freshness and vitality, with the old Aurora Lunare members (Mauro Pini: keyboards and vocals, Luciano Tonetti: bass, Marco Santinelli: drums, the extraordinary Stefano Onorati: piano, keyboards, classical guitar) in excellent shape.

Si, forse una compilation di cover, nell’ambito del nostro amato genere, sembrerà un’operazione poco ortodossa, ma in tale fase del percorso di AURORA LUNARE questo ci sentivamo di fare.
Ci è sembrato logico-naturale riunire in unico supporto fisico cover uscite in tempi diversi su varie tribute-compilation a tema, pubblicate in un periodo di 6 anni (2009 – 2014), di cui 2 usufruibili solo tramite download digitale. A questi sono stati aggiunti 2 nuovi brani, sempre cover, la cui scelta è stata dettata sia da storiche ragioni di affinità musicali delle nostre origini ma, soprattutto, da un profondo affetto, mai sopito, per due grandi ed ineguagliabili voci come Francesco Di Giacomo e Demetrio Stratos, la cui espressività è ancora viva dentro di noi, con la stessa emozione di quando li abbiamo più volte ammirati sul palco o scambiato qualche fugace battuta dietro le quinte.
I brani sono stati ordinati in base alla data di uscita degli originali, ma registrati e pubblicati in tempi diversi.
In definitiva tutto il lavoro rappresenta per noi un momento, dilatatosi per diversi anni, di passaggio, di transizione da una condizione ad un’altra, da un tempo ad un altro, dopo aver raggiunto uno degli obbiettivi che ci ponevamo nella vita o che essa ci propone, un satellite conosciuto da cui proiettarci verso altre insondabili dimensioni, nel bene o nel male, nella ragione o nel torto, sempre sospinti da quella fonte inesauribile di energia che è la Musica. Questo è il nostro “translunaggio”.

Yes, maybe, a cover compilation, in the context of our beloved musical genre will seem an unorthodox operation, but in this phase of AL’s path we felt like doing it.
It seemed logical and natural to put together in a single CD covers released at different times on various themed tribute-compilations, published in a period of 6 years (2009 – 2014), two of which available by digital download only. Two new cover songs were added. Their choice was driven by not only historical reasons of musical affinity with our origins but, above all, by a deep affection, never dimmed, for two great and unparalleled voices like Francesco Di Giacomo and Demetrio Stratos, whose musical expression is still alive within us, with the same emotion as when we admired them performing on stage or we had a little chat with them on the backstage.
The songs were ordered according to the release date of the originals, but recorded and published at different times.
Ultimately, all this work for us is a moment of transition, that expanded over several years. A passage from one condition to another, from one time to another, after having achieved one of the objectives that we set ourselves in life; a known satellite from which projecting ourselves towards other unfathomable dimensions, for better or for worse, in reason or in the wrong, always driven by that inexhaustible source of energy that is Music. This is our “Tanslunaggio”.
