EVELINE’S DUST “The Painkeeper” (LIZARD CD 0121)
EVELINE’S DUST è un altro sorprendente gruppo toscano, composto da Nicola Pedreschi (tastiere e voce), Lorenzo Gherarducci (chitarre), Angelo Carmignani (batteria), Marco Carloni (basso), che si ispira sia al progressive rock italiano e inglese degli anni 70 (riferimenti King Crimson, Banco, Perigeo, Genesis), sia al progressive più moderno (Porcupine Tree e Steven Wilson in primis).
“The Painkeeper” è il loro debutto su lunga durata, un concept album dedicato alla poesia “Il Custode dei Dolori” dell’intellettuale pisano Federico Vittori: nove brani dal raffinato gusto estetico neo-prog (ma non solo), ricchi di atmosfere tastieristiche/chitarristiche, tensioni elettriche e melodie che possono trovare affinità anche col moderno progressive inglese di band come IQ, Pallas, Arena.
Una trama avvincente, ottima padronanza tecnica e compositiva, grande forza espressiva e poetica, fra tratti ritmici decisi e momenti più delicati e introspettivi (particolarmente efficace l’inserimento del sax di Federico Avella in “NREM” e “A tender spark of unknown”)
Un nome nuovo per la scena italian-prog da tenere in grande considerazione!!!
EVELINE’S DUST is a new amazing italian prog band with a sound between the progressive rock of the seventies (King Crimson, Banco, Genesis, Perigeo) and modern prog (Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson over all).
“The Painkeeper” is a concept album inspired by a poem of Federico Vittori: 9 tracks of elegant neo-prog (but not only neo-prog) close to the sound of IQ, Pallas, Arena, highly expressive and poetic, with electric tension but also with nice introspective melodies.
Excellent thechnique and compositions with keyboards and guitars atmospheres (very nice the saxophone on “NREM” and “A ender spark of unknown”)
A new name for the italian prog–scene to focus strongly !!!
